Fire, Water and Brass Pipes

Series of 15 one-of-a-kind wall sculptures that fuses seashells, driftwood, and Santa Cruz beach debris into raw yet intricate compositions that speak to survival — both personal and planetary.

Created during a tumultuous chapter in the artist’s life, these works reflect a personal odyssey where beachcombing became both solace and ritual, reflecting emotional landscape shaped by nature.

The series draws its name from a Russian folktale symbolising trials by fire, water, and glory — echoing the artist’s own transformative journey. At its core, the work is also a meditation on climate change and sustainability: a confrontation with what we throw away, what washes ashore, and what we choose to preserve.

These sculptures stand as fragile totems of resilience, urging us to reimagine beauty in the broken and the abandoned.
